The top fall pieces 2024: must-haves for your vegan and sustainable season-wardrobe

Autumn is quietly approaching and that means we can slowly look forward to leisurely walks in the colorful foliage and cozy evenings by the light of flickering candles. In terms of fashion, the fall/winter season also brings with it some exciting styles that invite us to try out and experiment. But as tempting as shopping trips for the latest trends may be, they can often be tedious, even sweaty, especially in the cold season.

That's why we're focusing on timeless classics in this blog article that you can pull out of your wardrobe season after season. This will not only save you money on the hunt for the latest and hottest pieces, but also protect the environment as you won't have to constantly change your wardrobe. So in this article, we're turning the tables and showing you must-haves for fall that are not only bang on trend this season, but are also guaranteed to inspire you in the next seasons to come. Ready for your new sustainable and vegan fall essentials?

#1 trench coat

No fall season goes by without the iconic appearance of the trench coat – the epitome of timeless elegance. It is therefore no surprise that this classic is celebrating a fashionable comeback this season. Whether as a stylish overcoat or as practical protection from the autumn rain showers, the trench coat is proving to be an indispensable statement piece that will see you through any weather. In muted earth tones or classic shades of blue, it unfolds its unmistakable charm and adds a touch of Parisian chic to any outfit. Its versatility makes it the perfect companion – whether with casual jeans or an elegant evening dress, the trench coat simply goes anywhere, anytime.

Finding a sustainable and vegan trench coat is not that easy, as manufacturers usually do not disclose the materials used. The material information is often limited to the outer material. However, the more detailed the material information, the better. In addition to the outer material, which should ideally be made from plant-based fabrics such as cotton rather than animal wool, you can also pay attention to the material of the inner lining. This is often made of polyester, whereas a plastic-free alternative such as cotton or Tencel would be the more sustainable choice. And be careful when choosing buttons: these can be made from animal components such as buffalo horn.

#2 knitted cardigan

Whether with or without a pattern, in bright or subtle colors, fine or chunky knit, oversized and casual or fitted and feminine – we say vegan is the main thing! We like to avoid real animal wool to protect animal welfare and we also like to avoid synthetics such as polyester, polyamide or acrylic at best, as they are not particularly environment-friendly. This is why the choice falls on plant-based fibers such as organic cotton or Tencel. We don't use real wool in favor of animal welfare, but there are no limits to your creativity when it comes to designing what is probably the most versatile transitional garment. Just try out what you like best. Combine it with wide-leg trousers or a midi dress to prove that comfort and style can go hand in hand.

#3 vegan allrounder-handbags

Black handbags with a clean design are the epitome of timeless sophistication and an essential accessory for every fashionista. From the practical crossbody bag to the classic handle bag - black handbags are the ideal everyday and evening companions that fit seamlessly into any wardrobe and never go out of fashion.

The handbags from MELINA BUCHER are exclusively handcrafted in their own studio in Germany from the innovative vegan leather MIRUM. Out of responsibility towards people and the environment, the brand relies on organic and plastic-free materials that make your look modern and responsible at the same time.

When choosing your next handbag, you can not only pay attention to the outer material, but also take a look inside to avoid plastic and animal components. The inner lining, the reinforcements and even the sewing thread are often hidden components, but ideally they should also be made from natural materials. For example, the lining and thread can be made from certified organic cotton, while plant-based fibers such as the LOVR® nonwoven fabric used by MELINA BUCHER can be used for the reinforcements.

#4 vegan biker boots

Biker boots are once again making a strong fashion statement this season and add a powerful, rebellious touch to any fall wardrobe. With their striking silhouette, robust soles and metallic accents, they lend every look a casual coolness that defies all weather conditions. Whether as a break in style with feminine dresses and flowing skirts or casually combined with jeans and a trench coat – vegan leather biker boots always create an edgy look and are both fashionable and weatherproof.

These vegan models do without animal parts and are made from materials such as cactus or apple leather. These materials are made from a mix of plant-based materials and synthetics - hopefully there will soon be a plastic-free biker boot version! As with handbags, it's also worth taking a look inside: the insole and outsole should be made from vegan materials. Here, too, there are innovations such as PLIANT, a 100% plastic-free outsole made from natural rubber.

#5 leo print

Leo print is a style that is celebrating its revival this spring and summer and will continue to accompany us into the fall. If you haven't invested in a new leo piece yet, there's a good chance you'll find one in your closet or that of your friends. Because the style was not only around in the 1990s, but also in the 2000s and 2010s. Whether it's trousers, a dress or a shirt, leo gives every outfit that certain something. And as long as it's just the leopard pattern, we're on board with this style too. Garments that do not use synthetic materials such as polyester, polyamide or acrylic in their material description are the better, more sustainable choice here. Incidentally, it's not just the colors black and brown that go well with it, but also exciting accessories in red or gold, for example.
